While attending the Eleventh Annual Blueberry Festival at the Austerlitz Historical Society, Mark and I had the pleasure of meeting Robbie and his amazing gluten free cookies. I don’t usually get excited about cookies for purchase, even gluten free ones, as they are often a let down and come with a hefty price tag. But feeling adventurous, I figured it was worth checking out the stand. Being a great salesman, Robbie had many samples of his delicious cookies to taste. I was blown away by the variety. These aren’t just chocolate chip cookies or no-oatmeal raisin cookies, these are thoughtfully crafted, flavorful treats with unique ingredients like dried blue berries, lavender, pistachios, espresso. It was an agonizing task to decide which of these amazing cookies to purchase. Fortunately the laboring involved taste testing samples! To my surprise, I ended up buying a package of the Triple Lemon-Lavender with organic blueberries. I am usually a firm believer that a dessert without chocolate isn’t worth the calories, but these cookies are fabulous. They are crisp like a tea cookie with a dynamic lemon taste coupled with a subtle lavender flavor. Each blueberry is like a burst of sunshine in each bite.
Part of the joy of buying these cookies is getting to chat with Robbie. He is a kind man who is more than happy to discuss his adventures in gluten free baking. I agree! I met Robbie at the Co-Op in GB and the sample cookie he shared was scrumptious! Vanilla Four-Way Spice with Three Kinds of Raisins! Mmmmmmm! He also gave me a list of the vast array of flavors and they all look extraordinary!
